Puppy Classes are taught in two of the practices owned by Russell Hatton in North London, Canonbury Veterinary Practice and Pet Vet, Highgate. Emily currently teaches at the Pet Vet venue on Wednesday evenings. If you are a client of one of these practices, you can book a place in puppy class by calling the surgery.
You will need to bring your puppy’s vaccination card to your first lesson. This is show that your puppy has had its initial vaccinations at least one week prior to its first class.

Puppies MUST learn social skills and how to behave around people and other dogs during
the critical socialisation period which ends around 12 -
Some of the areas covered in classes taught by Emily include:
Mouthing and Biting (Teaching Bite Inhibition)
Safe Play with Toys.
Walking on a loose lead.
Gentle handling and practising restraint for health checks.
Coming back to the owner when called.
Teaching “tricks” such as sit, down, stand, and roll over.
Toilet Training
Getting pup used to being left alone.

Floyd being carried on a ‘walk’ prior to the completion of his vaccinations. He got used to all sorts of sights and sounds in a positive way whilst feeling secure.
